Racking up the props!
Arriving at the forefront of innovation and excellence in the auto industry is not an easy task, and staying there is even more challenging! But Honda has done just that. In fact, when it comes to the automaker that earned more 10Best Awards than any other brand, Honda has it covered! With its Civic, Accord and CR-V racking up honors, they have earned the title of winningest brand in Car and Driver award history with a whopping total of 92 trophies!
Honored for the 38th time, including a streak of 26 consecutive years, the Accord and its sleek, powerful and electrified set up was a clear choice. The 11th generation Civic was also honored for the third year in a row, while for the second year, the 6th-generation CR-V took top honors.
In this show, which recognizes those vehicles that demonstrate design and engineering excellence, Honda earned three 2024 Car and Driver 10Best awards now for two years in a row, which is more than any other brand. In addition to the Civic and Accord honors, as well as the CR-V, Car and Driver has also selected the Acura Integra Type S to its 10Best Cars list.
With their 92 total awards, Honda now has more Car and Driver awards than any other brand — now that’s an accomplishment! In fact, Honda has earned a spot on the annual 10Best list since the awards began in 1983.
“Taking home three prestigious Car and Driver 10Best awards for the second year in a row is an incredible honor for the entire Honda family,” Lance Woelfer, assistant vice president for Honda National Sales, said. “For Honda, these awards are not just recognition of Civic, Accord and CR-V, but motivation for every Honda associate to continue creating, building and selling products that create joy for our customers.”
The Accord, a record breaker through and through, is truly America’s best-selling car and has been so over the last five decades. The Civic is equally impressive, considered the best-selling compact car in the nation due to its outstanding performance, timeless design and incredible value. The CR-V is equally notable in its 6th-generation, boasting a new, more advanced two-motor hybrid system that maximizes efficiency without compromising dynamic performance or packaging. The result is a sporty and always comfortable driving experience!
To even make the list of the 10Best is rigorous, so much so, that the list of criteria is notable! To compete in the 10Best, which has been the standard of excellence for more than 40 years, vehicles must be all new and must fall under the base-price cap of $110,000. In addition, they must be on sale no later than Jan. 31, 2023. Vehicles to be considered are scored on a scale of 0-100, with the votes tallied and averaged to arrive at the 10Best for 2024. Car and Driver editors spend two weeks driving more than 80 new cars, trucks and SUVs in reaching their decision.
All the Honda’s chosen for these latest awards are made in North America and rooted in the automaker’s longstanding commitment to build products close to the customer. For example, the 11th-generation Accord is built in the Marysville Auto Plant in Ohio, with the 11th-generation Civic Sean made in Alliston, Ontario, Canada. The Civic Hatchback is built at the Honda Indiana Auto Plant, where more than 11 million units have been produced in North America. The 6th-
generation CR-V is built in three plants in North America, including the East Liberty Auto Plant in Oho, the Indiana Auto Plant and Honda of Canada Mfg.
The awards are just one more way Honda stands out! The automaker which has been producing vehicles for more than 40 years, operates 18 major manufacturing facilities across North America, with more than 99 percent of all vehicles made within them in 2022. Car and Driver knows what America knows — the “best” and Honda are one in the same!
