Satisfaction guaranteed!

Getting the best out of your vehicle is a given, and Honda is surely generous when it comes to all of the benefits when joining its family! In fact, when it comes to the perks associated with the Honda Certified Pre-Owned warranty, the list gets quite lengthy! From powertrain coverage and replacement parts to emergency roadside assistance and more, you are covered through and through with Honda True’s certification process — giving you that much-needed peace of mind!

Here’s more….

What it is!

A Honda CPO vehicle is a pre-owned Honda car that has been inspected and refurbished. This car must be newer than five years, have no more than 80,000 miles and pass through a stringent Honda pre-owned certified checklist, which includes a whopping 182-point inspection.

Purchasing a CPO vehicle is typically more affordable than buying a new one, with these used vehicles still considered to be in great condition and coming complete with a Honda CPO factory warranty. Honda offers limited coverage for certified pre-owned vehicles purchased in the five years before.

What it covers!

The Honda CPO provides Powertrain coverage of seven years or 100,000 miles and non-powertrain coverage of 12 months or 12,000 miles, with 24 months or 50,000 miles covered for some vehicles. That means that if the vehicle is less than 12 months and 12,000 miles from original in-service date—known as HondaTrue Certified+ —the Honda CPO warranty is extended to 24 months or 50,000 miles.

The 7-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty remains truly one of the Honda CPO program’s top highlights. Since new Hondas come with 5 years/60,000 miles of powertrain coverage, the extension that comes with CPO Hondas provides an additional 2 years/40,000 miles of coverage.

It is important to note that the start date of this coverage is the original in-service date or when New Vehicle Limited Warranty expires.

Some exclusions include standard maintenance, wear and tear items, body parts, interior, trim, glass and emission system.

Also, the remaining warranty balance is transferrable.

Non-powertrain coverage, which is a limited warranty that provides non-powertrain coverage for 12 months or up to 12,000 miles (from original in-service date) includes the following systems and components:

— Fuel system

— Sensors

— Air conditioning

— Suspension

— Batteries

— Audio and navigational devices

— Steering

— Bulbs

— Safety restraint system

— Brakes

— Heating

— Fluids

— Electrical

— Cooling

— Lubricants

What it doesn’t cover!

It is important to understand and be aware of what the CPO warranty does NOT cover so as to be informed when moving forward. Items that are not covered include standard maintenance and wear items. That means normal wear and tear are excluded, as is improper maintenance or damage caused by acts of nature. Also not covered under the CPO warranty are:

— Expendable items such as: filters, fluids, wiper blades, etc.

— Maintenance procedures such as tune-ups, tire rotation, and wheel alignment

— Clutches, brakes, and tires

— Batteries and bulbs

— Body parts, interior, trim and glass, such as inner fenders, doors and chrome trim

— Upholstery, trim, and interior parts such as dash panel, head consoles, etc.

— Glass and mirrors

— Wheels, including wheel studs and trim rings

— Other items such as airbags that deploy during a collision or clamps, clips, and screws

The Honda CPO warranty excludes emissions-related repairs and replacements such as head pipes, catalytic converters, mufflers, and more.

In general, a certified pre-owned program conducts a thorough inspection of the used vehicle to assess its condition, performs any required services or repairs to ensure the vehicle meets the manufacturer’s specs for a CPO vehicle and provides a warranty for the vehicle, and sometimes an extended powertrain warranty.

How the branding works!

With the upgrade to the CPO program in 2019, Honda also added new branding, naming its program HondaTrue Certified, which includes pre-owned vehicles up to 5 years old and with up to 80,000 miles. This upgrade also included the addition of roadside assistance and other benefits that had not been offered previously. With this upgrade, Honda is now more in line with other brands’ CPO programs, as well as third-party extended warranties.

In 2020 and 2021, the Honda CPO program now includes two complimentary oil changes over the first 12 months or 12,000 miles you have the vehicle. It also throws in a three-month free trial of SiriusXM® satellite radio service.

While these add-ons are significant, even more important is that Honda customers opting for the HondaTrue Certified+ plan, which applies only to current and previous model-year pre-owned vehicles that have been in service for less than 12 months or 12,000 miles, receive even more benefits.

For Certified and Certified+ Honda models alike, the vehicle warranty (what Honda calls the “non-powertrain warranty”) is in addition to any remaining portion of the New Vehicle Limited warranty, which runs for 3 years/36,000 miles. Since HondaTrue Certified+ vehicles can’t be older than 12 months or have more than 12,000 miles, that means buying one of these cars would, at a minimum, reset your warranty clock to 3 years/36,000 miles. A Certified+ Honda that is under those limits would have even longer coverage than a new Honda. Talk about peace of mind!

With an extensive 182-point inspection, roadside assistance coming in as standard, plus a plethora of added incentives and coverage, the Honda CPO program results in satisfaction guaranteed!
