Heading into the 2026 model year, the all-new Passport combines rugged style with class-leading on-road and off-road dynamics, allowing this vehicle to explore even the toughest terrain with all about confidence.

Poised to arrive in 2025, the redesigned Passport returns with a TrailSport trim and is promised to be the most capable SUV yet.

Shots reveal amber-colored daytime running lights, an exclusive feature to the TrailSport, with the new model fitted with General Grabber All-Terrain Sport tires. These tires measure 275/60 and are wrapped around 18-inch wheels. This model features a wider tire than the one used on the outgoing TrailSport, and is also wider than the 2023 Pilot TrailSport.

A short rear overhang and exhaust piping routing takes into account departure angles. There’s also chunky roof rails that serve to add an extra sense of ruggedness.

There will be a new grille design for the 2026 model year as well as a more squared-off rugged front end. A taller, squared-off rear cargo hold is also visible on the spy shots.

Honda’s Global Light Truck Platform that is featured in the Pilot as well as the Acura MDX will underpin the new model, with the platform more rigid than the one it will replace. This should result in better dynamics overall.

The Passport TrailSport also boasts unique tuning which should be utilized for the stabilizer bars, spring rates and damper valves, similar to the Pilot TrailSport. Ground clearance is also expected to be higher than stock.

While it is uncertain yet what will be under hood, we do know that the Pilot is powered by a 285-hp 3.5-liter V6, which is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. The redesigned Passport is expected to be powered by the same.

In viewing the current generation Passport, which is essentially a two-row Pilot, it shares that model’s platform, mechanicals and styling at front and rear. It’s the same as the Pilot but with less rear overhang. However, the new 2026 Passport does appear to be visually distinct from the newest Pilot SUV, with square headlights and a beefier overall vibe.

In teasing the new Passport in only off-road TrailSport guise, it does make perfect sense as it is the most aspirational Passport variant. The current Passport Trailsport is a bridge model, complete with meatier tires and some other minor upgrades. The next-generation model will be more thoroughly upgraded, similar to the newest Pilot Trailsport, and more fitting as the pinnacle of the Passport family’s off-road capability.

There will be non-Trailsport Passports, but mechanically it is expected that the next-gen Passport will continue to be closely linked to the Pilot, which since last year, uses a 3.5-liter V-6, and an i-VTM4 all-wheel-drive system with rear-axle torque vectoring. Also it is likely that the Trailsport models, following suit from the 2024 Pilot Trailsport, will be presented with extra skid plates, all-terrain tires, a slight suspension lift, specific springs and dampers and orange-colored accents throughout.
