Back in black!

Attention Pilot lovers: Honda has arrived for 2025 with an all-new Black Edition, and it is upscale in many ways! This top-level offering comes with a higher price tag and notable style cues, including 20-inch wheels and blacked-out badging. This is all paired with a wide range of other black accents, including on areas like the grille, mirror housings and door trim. With a starting base price of $41,000 and ranging to above $55,000, see what this special “black out” has in store!

What else we know!

In paving way for the Black Edition, Honda has removed the base-level LX trim from its lineup. But all eyes are on these oh so dark changes!

Inside, the top trim boasts the words “Black Edition” embossed on the front seats and floor mats. In addition, the steering wheel, door panels and leather seats also are presented with trim-exclusive red contrast stitching, and eye-catching red accent lighting is also found within the cabin. These Pilot models all share the same power source — a 3.5-liter V-6 engine which makes 285 horsepower. That is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. The lesser-priced trims come with front-wheel-drive as standard but all-wheel-drive is also an option but for an additional cost of $2,100.

The new Black Edition of the updated 2025 Honda Pilot three-row SUV is expected to arrive immediately at US showrooms. And while black appearance packages are not anything new, it is still well worth the choice for today’s consumers who desire a more upscale, sleek look and feel. It is undoubtedly a trend that many are opting for with just about every major brand jumping on the blackout bandwagon, although sometimes using different terminology. To that end, Toyota has the “Nightshade Edition”; Nissan has the “Midnight Edition,” Audi has “Black Optic” and the list goes on!

Honda has had in the past Pilots featuring black appearance packages, although this model for 2025 has gloss black 20-inch alloy rims, grille bar and mirror housings, along with blacked-out front fascia ducts, window and door trim and rear bumper garnish. For the 2025 model, the new Black Edition trim with standard all-wheel-drive represents the top of the Honda Pilot price range, capping out at $55,675 with destination. That is even higher than the Elite AWD model that topped the Pilot price scale last year at $53,875.

In addition to this all new Black Edition, Honda has made some adjustments to the Pilot TrailSport trim for more adventurous customers. That includes expanded AWD capabilities, steel skid plates, all-terrain tires on unique 18-inch trims as well as a raised off-road tuned suspension with additional ground clearance. These modifications resulted in better off-road abilities without sacrificing much-desired comfort!

This Pilot, now with black exclusive enhancements, performs very well in its large crossover segment, similar to the smaller Honda CR-V among midsize crossovers.

In overall recent sales, it is placed high, ranking No. 4 behind the Toyota Highlander, the Chevrolet Traverse and Kia Telluride. That translates into Honda clearly outpacing the Hyundai Palisade, the Mazda CX-90, the Nissan Pathfinder, Subaru Ascent and VW Atlas.

The Pilot is back — and in black, and customers are sure to take notice. From sleek accents within to exterior changes that speak to pure sophistication, Back in Black has never looked so good! Reserve yours today!
